World Can't Wait Encampment holds a "Veterans and Families Speak Out" at the White House Gates Against the Iraq War

The death toll of Iraqis has reached more than 100,000 and the US GI toll is now over 2,000 war dead, with over 15,000 mained and wounded. Today, for almost 2 hours, the voices of veterans and family members filled the air in front of the White House, declaring "NO MORE."
Speaking were:
- Elaine Brower (Staten Island, NY). Her son is a Marine who served 4 years in Afghanistan, and is now facing deployment to Iraq.
- Stephen Potts (DC). Air Force Military Academy graduate, active duty 1998-2003, member Iraq Vets Against the War.
- Doug Nelson (DC). Vietnam veteran, Army 1967-71, Vets for Peace
- Leonard Shelton (Ohio). Retired Marine, active duty Persian gulf War 1990-91
- Joe Urgo (NYC). Vietnam veteran, US Air Force Security Police 1968, on of the organizers of the 1971 Winter Soldier Investigation into US War Crimes
- Anton Black (Seattle). US Navy 1977-83, member Vietnam Veterans Against the War-Anti Imperialist
- Bob Veith (Madison, WI). Korean War vet US Navy 1951-55, Vets for Peace, Green Party.
- Willie Cunningham, disabled Vietnam Vet
- Jim Goodnow (Terlingua, TX). US Coast Guard 1959-61
- John Evans (DC). US Army, Vietnam 1968-69.

In addition to the speakers, 5 statements were read by Kris (W. Va) and her mother Gloria. Statements were sent by:
- Juan Torres (Chicago and Houston). Father of John M. Torres killed in Afghanistan July 12, 2004
- Tom Wilson. Korean vet, US Navy
- Veterans for Peace, Los Angeles
- Stan Nishimura, US Army 1964-67
- Eric Ross (Portland, OR). Navy vet, served in Gulf War 1992-93.
